SymBind works with angels and early-stage funds in two ways: independent due diligence on AI-first startups before a funding decision, and structured advisory for portfolio founders post-seed. Both draw on the same rigour SymBind applies in its direct founder work.
An independent, structured assessment of an AI-first startup's strategic soundness, commissioned before a funding decision is made. SymBind assesses the startup across four dimensions: whether the AI approach is genuine, whether the moat narrative is grounded, whether the strategic foundations have been comprehended and addressed, and whether the founding team demonstrates a real grasp of the strategic implications of their AI choices.
The output is a written assessment covering findings, risks, open questions, and a clear recommendation. Designed to inform the investment decision, not replace it.
Structured, ongoing advisory for portfolio founders who have received seed capital but whose strategic foundations are still being formed. SymBind engages directly with the founder using the same approach as its direct Advisory engagement: regular sessions, the same standard of challenge, focused on building and pressure-testing the AI product pillars.
This is not light-touch mentoring. The investor is paying for rigour, not reassurance.
The retainer is paid by the investor. The equity stake, typically less than 1%, vesting over 12–24 months with a 3-month cliff, is issued by the founder's company. This reflects SymBind's long-term alignment with the startup's success, not the investment relationship.
